Round Up: Small Wooden Stools

Let’s chat about the merit of the small wooden stool! I mean, seriously, I have no less than five of them floating around in my house. They’re so useful and easily moved from one spot to another whenever the need arises.

For instance, I have a small stool that stays close to my leather swivel chairs ready to hold my morning cup of coffee. There’s another three-legged stool stationed by my front porch swing for holding the book I’m about to read or a glass of sparkling water. In the bathroom I have one near the sink. It’s perfect to help the grandson to easily reach the faucet for hand-washing and teeth-brushing.

In addition, I have couple round wooden stools floating around upstairs, ready to be used as needed. Sometimes that’s to lift up a plant closer to the window, or as a step stool to reach the top of the closet, or a place to lay a towel for easy access from the tub.

Because a small wooden stool tends to be low profile and take up such a small area of valuable floor space it’s a work horse in your living space that doesn’t demand much but offers up value in spades.

Plus, I really appreciate how they can add a quick layer of visual interest to a space and communicate friendliness. There’s just something about a well placed stool that says “I’m here to be used and serve you, please make yourself at home!” And if you’ve been around here long you know that I’m all about making my home user-friendly and hospitable.

What about you? Are you a big fan of the humble small wooden stool too?
